More innocent times

I just finished watching part two of the series premier of Magnum P.I. In the episode, which originally aired in 1980, Magnum tracked the bad guy (Robert Loggia) to an airport. There was a confrontation in the men's room where they shot each other. The bad guy suffered a fatal wound but Magnum recovered, which is good since I doubt the show would have been as successful starring Robert Loggia instead of Tom Selleck.

Watching this show in a drunken haze made me nostalgic for a more innocent time, before 9/11, when people could show up at airports with guns and shoot people with no repercussions.

Drunken thoughts on "Can't Buy Me Love"

Today was Work-From-Home-Wednesday. I needed the cable company to send someone out to fix my internet, which keeps going down. Today was their earliest availability and I've learned to always make that appointment because the next soonest availability is usually two months down the road.

So I had to stay home today and await the cable guy who was scheduled between 10:00am - 12:00pm. He showed up around 11:55am and, after examining every inch of cable running through my house, determined my problem: way too much internet porn.

After eating leftovers from last night's Chinese food, I spent the rest of the afternoon napping and watching internet porn.

Once my work day ended at 4:00pm, I headed to the bar for a few hours. After I got home, I caught the end of "Can't Buy Me Love." I've seen this movie numerous times. Here are some drunken thoughts I've always had about it:

It's easy to pick out which characters are on the high school baseball team and cheerleader squad because they always wear their uniforms.

Amanda Peterson, who played the female lead, was never in another movie that anyone ever saw.

Chuckie Miller, younger annoying brother of main character, Ronald Miller, was played by now big movie star, Seth Green.

Britney in Arizona?

Rumor has it that Britney Spears is looking to buy a place in the Phoenix area.

Britney, you may want to check out this lovely townhouse in my neighborhood. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. You'll love it.

Then maybe after you pop out that kid, hand it over to your nanny and drop the 200 pounds you put on, we could hang out.

Life goes on

With death, a period of grieving is expected, but eventually we must move on with life. That is what Vince Neil the fish would have wanted me to do.

So, I'd like to introduce Nikki Sixx the fish.

31

So, my birthday is drawing to an end. I am now officially 31.

Girlfriend Melissa decorated my front door with balloons while I slept at my office today. We went out for a few drinks after work and then came home for a few drinks.

It's 10:00pm. We're drunk. Now what should we do?

It's possible that he could have been the victim of gang violence. Has anybody questioned the T Birds or the Pink Ladies?

Calling your shot

The movie: Major League.

The situation: Tie game. Bottom of the ninth. Two outs. A runner on second. Jake Taylor (Tom Berenger) at bat, gives a sign to the manager who responds, "That's a hell of an idea" and conveys the play to the third base coach.

The play is for Taylor to point to the stands, calling his shot - a homerun, just as Babe Ruth supposedly once did. However, Taylor is bluffing to catch the infield off-guard, because he actually plans to bunt.

I don't claim to know that much about baseball but am I really supposed to believe that a Major League Baseball team has a sign for "call a fake homerun by pointing to the bleachers but actually lay down a bunt to third?" C'mon!

Sunday night. 80's TV. Alcohol

Tonight I watched the final episode of Magnum P.I., Resolutions (2), which originally aired May 1, 1988. My DVR records every Magnum episode and I've seen this finale at least three or four times already. In fact, I've seen the entire series, beginning to end, a few times. The local channel that runs the show nightly is starting over with the first episode tomorrow. And I'll watch 'em all again because it's a great show and, let's face it, I'm a loser.

If you read this site regularly (there's only about three of you), you know that two of my favorite shows from the 80's are Magnum P.I. and MacGyver. Since both these shows still live on in syndication, I am able to get drunk and watch them regularly (I just took a few minutes to pour myself a whiskey.)

Both series, coincidently, ended with the main characters being united with a child they didn't know they had or, in Magnum's situation, recently learned they had.

Magnum later would later retire from the private investigator business, move in with Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson and raise a child with them.

Sweet, Knight Rider is on now. That's no surprise though, as my DVR records that show too.

Boats, booze, but few boobs

(I cheated on this entry. I intended to post it last night, as it appears to be, but was too drunk to type. So I posted it this morning.)

I spent a drunken day at the lake today. While I was disappointed with the lack of exposed boobs, I was very satisfied by my level of intoxication.

Rest in peace, Vince Neil

This is a sad time at my drunken house. I woke up this morning to find my fish, Vince Neil, had passed away overnight.

The exact cause of death is not known but it is assumed to have something to do with the fact that I am unable to care for another living thing.

A brief ceremony was held in my bathroom and Vince was sent to his eternal resting place.

Return of the drunken post

I have taken some flack lately regarding my lack of drunken posts. So much for a guy trying to sober up a little. But I guess you can't have a web site called mydrunkthoughts.com and not get drunk.

Tonight I spent a couple of hours at my local watering hole. Had some beers and a couple Red Bull-vodkas. I came home and fell asleep for 20 minutes. Girlfriend called. Got second wind. Now I'm up, drinking screwdrivers and watching 80s TV shows.

I just saw MacGyver pick a lock with the tweezer from a Swiss Army Knife.
