I just finished watching part two of the series premier of Magnum P.I. In the episode, which originally aired in 1980, Magnum tracked the bad guy (Robert Loggia) to an airport. There was a confrontation in the men's room where they shot each other. The bad guy suffered a fatal wound but Magnum recovered, which is good since I doubt the show would have been as successful starring Robert Loggia instead of Tom Selleck.
Watching this show in a drunken haze made me nostalgic for a more innocent time, before 9/11, when people could show up at airports with guns and shoot people with no repercussions.
